Transparent Architecture & Licensing Compliance

Apache 2.0 Governed

This document clarifies the distinct runtimes governing the Koda Website and Koda Softwares, records our custom monospaced typography, and provides standard license texts.

1. Open Source Commitment & Apache 2.0

Koda is committed to open, ethical software development. The Koda project and its distributed components are licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0, allowing developers, enterprises, and open-source contributors to inspect, utilize, and integrate without proprietary paywalls.

Apache License 2.0 Permissions

Commercial use, modification, distribution, patent grant, and sublicensing are fully permitted under the Apache License 2.0 terms, provided appropriate copyright and patent notices are preserved.

2. Runtime & Architecture (Web vs. Software)

We maintain an architectural separation between the Koda Website and the Koda Softwares (Phide Desktop Engine):

Koda Website RuntimeApache 2.0 / MIT

The online Koda portal and documentation are powered by modern JavaScript/TypeScript runtimes:

  • Next.js & React (Turbopack bundler)
  • Node.js headless serverless runtime
  • Tailwind CSS utility layout engine
Koda Softwares (Phide)Node to C++ Range

The desktop software is an ultra-fast, local-first engine with a multi-layered tech stack ranging from Node.js to low-level C++:

  • High-performance C++ native core modules
  • Sub-millisecond native IPC pipelines
  • Node.js process orchestration engine
  • Direct Windows API integration (x64)

3. Web & UI Frameworks

The frontend interface of the Koda platform utilizes verified open-source UI libraries:
